I grew up on the back of a horse in beautiful Western Montana. I was full of adventure and made my way to Maui in 1988. Wow...time sure flies. I feel so blessed to live in such a special place. Maui no ka oi !!!!
I’ve been married to my husband, Kevin, for 32 years. Our handsome son makes us so proud as he follows in his dad's footsteps being a great waterman. I have 2 beautiful step-daughters and between them they have 8 awesome kids. We have 2 cats at our house, one naughty wiener dog, and one rather large tortoise named Speedy. I like to listen to music, play on my computer, go to the beach, swim, pick limu, take pictures, visit other islands, study Hawaiian language and culture, sleep, and spend time with my kids...all 20 of them. I really enjoy my job. I’m starting my 18th year teaching in 2023 and can’t think of anything I’d rather do. I feel very fortunate to be at such an excellent school with so many wonderful students, parents, resources and teachers. My teaching philosophy is to engage students with inquiry-based activities that are project based. Students are frequently asked to share information with others helping to solidify what they have learned. As the Hawaiians say, "ma ka hana ka ʻike," learning happens by doing. |

Ways you can support my classroom...
- Donate to one of my projects from DonorsChoose.org. I'm always trying to find ways to help the kids by getting new supplies, equipment, and field trip funding.
- Consider purchasing a gift card for the class from places like Costco, OfficeMax, Walmart, Safeway, or Longs. Things I would like to acquire from these stores are items like color printer ink for student projects, a Swiffer Sweeper with dry sweeping cloth refills, Expo Dry Erase pens, art supplies, small rewards or prizes for things like Reading Counts goals, and snacks.
- Volunteer in the classroom or with the PTA.
