Kamaliʻi School Garden
Kamaliʻi students have had so many great learning experiences in the school garden over the years. It wouldn't be possible without our amazing PTA and the wonderful folks from Grow Some Good. We are also very happy to have the Mākena Golf and Beach Club as our past community sponsor. They generously matched funds from our PTA to support the garden for three years. We love our community sponsors. Thank you all for helping our students and our garden.
We Are Growing!
Our outdoor garden has been on hold for a couple of years but my students will still be learning about the importance of growing our own food. We will be growing some plants in our portable garden beds right outside of our classroom!
We will be learning about the Earth's orbit around the sun, the moon's orbit around the Earth, gravity, the change of seasons, and how it all ties into ancient Hawaiian culture. The garden beds will also help us learn about plant cells, photosynthesis, cycles in nature, habitats, and how we need to take care of our island home and our island Earth. One of the best benefits is that kids will take pride and ownership in learning how to grow food, eat healthy, try new foods.

Photographers!
Besides gardening, learning about plants, pollinators, science, and caring for our Earth, my students have been enjoying photography. I'm so impressed with some of their work! I'd like to thank the Maui Economic Development Board for helping me get cameras and for supporting me with STEM in my classroom. Through their generous Ke Alahele fund they have supplied me with technology I've been able to use for many years. Mahalo MEDB.
